Academy Scholar Clinicals at UMMC

Academy of Health Service scholars

The Academy of Health Science II Scholars are earning clinical hours at UMMC's Electrodiagnostics and Respiratory Therapy simulation labs.

The students are simulating bagging with pig lungs. The bagging method involves adding air into the lungs during the inspiration phase by using a resuscitation bag.

The instructor, Robert Mashburn, RRT, is the Clinical Coordinator for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit/Emergency Room (PICU/ER)

The Children’s Hospital Respiratory Care department

played a crucial part in the success of this very valuable clinical experience.
