Jim Hill HS English Teacher Named Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction
April 23, 2024 -?Tracee Thompson, a 20-year English teacher at Jim Hill Senior High School, was recently selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). The award is named after one of the organization's founders, Claes Nobel, a senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes. The Educator of Distinction recognizes outstanding role models who have made a lasting difference in a student's life by encouraging them to strive for excellence.

JPS Elementary Science Teacher Named State-Level Finalist for 2023-24 Presidential Award
April 19, 2024 - Dr. Diane Smith of Wells APAC has been named a 2023-24 state-level finalist for the?Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching?(PAEMST). The PAEMST program is the nation¡¯s highest honor for teachers of mathematics, science, technology, engineering and computer science education.?

Registration Now Open for Free JPS Summer Enrichment Camp
April 12, 2024 - Registration is open for ÐÓ°É Public Schools¡¯ A3 Summer Enrichment Camp to be held June 3 - June 28, 2024. Camp activities include intramural sports, enrichment activities, academic learning, cultural engagement, fitness, crafts and more. The deadline to register is May 19, 2024.

Advanced Academics Program Re-Opens Application Window
March 26, 2024 - The Advanced Academics Program will reopen the application window for the following programs only: Obama (IB) Elementary, Wells APAC, Casey Elementary, ÐÓ°É Middle College, Jim Hill High School, Forest Hill High School. All other programs are currently at capacity for the 2024-2025 school year and are no longer accepting applications. The application window will be open from Tuesday, March 26 - Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

JMC Scholars learn about David Kolb¡¯s Experimental Learning Theory by building models.
March 6, 2024 - As future educators, it is important to learn about different educational theories. This equips them with the knowledge of learning how children learn and develop, as well as, how to plan engaging lessons that support and challenge students' learning. David Kolb¡¯s Experiential Learning Theory states that this type of learning results in new skills and new ways of thinking.

2024 MS Educators Rising Competition
February 25, 2024 - On February 22-233, 2024, twelve of our ÐÓ°É Middle College scholars represented our Career Development Center in the 2024 MS Educators Rising Competition. The event was held at Mississippi College. This was our first year attending and competing, and all our scholars placed.
