Department Overview

  • ÐÓ°É Public Schools understands that community involvement is a vital component for successful schools. JPS values participation from businesses, civic organizations, faith groups, government agencies, and individuals. Partners in Education connects schools with the community through several programs. Below is a list of some of the ways you or your organization can volunteer or contribute to the success of ÐÓ°É Public Schools.

    How You Can Help

    PIE partnership

    Giving

Partners in Education connects financial and material contributions to meet the needs of our teachers and scholars. Many schools request specific support to provide teachers, staff and scholar recognition and/or incentives, and well as to respond to emergency situations.

Additionally, there is an ongoing need for new uniforms for Pre-K through 8th grade scholars, well as for those assigned to Capital City Alternative School, which serves students in grades 5-12. JPS elementary and middle school uniforms are navy blue or white tops and navy blue or khaki bottoms. Capital City students are restricted to white tops and khaki bottoms.

    PIE Store

Community members, parents and families continuously acknowledge that JPS educators are one of the top assets within our District. Our educators care deeply about our scholars and often go above and beyond to ensure their classrooms have the resources they need. These efforts by JPS team members may include purchasing supplies for their classrooms and helping families with other resources to meet non-academic needs.

The goal of the PIE store is to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for our dedicated educators by providing free classroom supplies. The PIE store is open to JPS teachers, counselors, interventionists, and librarians. We are located at the Morrison Complex, 1224 Eminence Row.

    JPS Team members

Items usually offered are outlined in the PIE Inventory List 23-24. Each summer, just prior to the start of school, all listed team members have 50 points to select items. During the Fall and Spring semesters, limited-service team members have 50 points; all others have 25 points. Points do not carry over to the next semester.

Until further notice, items may be requested via email. Send your completed inventory list to the attention of  Tonisha Jones. Orders will be filled with available items, and team members will be notified when they can pick up their order.

Please note that we cannot guarantee availability of specific items. This resource is provided strictly through community donations.

    Volunteering

We need you. Yes, you! What can you do? Your time, your help and your generosity will be greatly appreciated. The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others. Please consider sharing your time and expertise with us. All potential volunteers must complete an application and JPS background check. Click on this link to access application volunteer application and submit your completed application to the school or department where you would like to be assigned to begin the screening process.
