Eight JPS JROTC Cadets Attend the Fund II Foundation Restoration Retreat

JPS scholar JROTC Cadets Talan Pointer of Murrah, Jaleel Henderson of Callaway, Robert Harris of Jim Hill, Cedric Taylor of  Provine, Jayden Henderson of Callaway, Kamron Peele of Forest Hill, Kenneth King of Provine, and Xaverion Wright of Callaway attended The Fund II Foundation’s Restoration Retreat at Piney Woods School from June 26 to July 2, 2022.

During the retreat, the scholars were introduced to yoga and meditation and taught how to use breathing and relaxation techniques to help combat stress and anxiety, practice anger management, and establish conflict resolution. The retreat also consisted of daily workshops in financial management, film and photography, culinary arts, STEM, and African dance. They were also exposed to nature and wildlife recreational exercises such as fishing, horseback riding, and bird watching.

Upon completion of the retreat, each scholar was offered a verbal invite to attend the same retreat next summer in Colorado. Each was awarded an annual $5,000 college scholarship. Jayden and Jaleel Henderson received verbal offers for college internships next summer as well.
