Kylon Alford-Windfield

Mr. Kylon Alford-Windfield is a native of ÐÓ°É and a class of 2008 graduate of Provine High School. Kylon has emerged as a preeminent young administrator in higher education. He was recently named as the vice president of enrollment management at Stillman College. This position has primary responsibility for leadership, management, strategic direction and administrative oversight for enhancing student access and enrollment services. Most recently, Mr. Windfield served as the executive director for enrollment management at Mississippi Valley State University, where he also served as the associate director of the Athletic Foundation. As executive director, Mr. Windfield was responsible for reversing a five-year downward enrollment trend and launched efforts to increase student engagement. Prior to his transition to enrollment management, he worked in the Division of University Advancement, serving as the director of alumni affairs. Kylon holds the distinction of being the youngest to hold that position in University’s 72-year history. He developed and implemented the Alumni Recruitment Alliance (ARA), which provides alumni with opportunities to represent MVSU in a variety of capacities to help recruit students. Also, he created and chartered the Student Alumni Association, which resulted in substantial increases in instuitional student philanthropy rates. In his earlier years at MVSU, Mr. Windfield worked in the Office of Recruitment & Admissions as a recruiter and admission counselor.

Before joining MVSU, he served at Rust College as an admissions counselor and recruiter. While he servied in this capacity, Rust College achieved increases in overall student enrollment and retention. Moreover, he assisted in enrolling one of the largest first-year classes in the college’s history. Mr. Windfield adopted a student-centered approach, serving as an advisor to several registered student organizations which include: The Royal Court, Student Alumni Association, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Zeta Zeta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Mr. Windfield graduated from Mississippi Valley State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He earned the Master of Science in sport administration degree from MVSU and is currently enrolled at ÐÓ°É State University, pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy in higher education. He was inducted into the Mu Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Lambda Graduate Honor Society of Graduate and Professional School Students and completed the Greenwood-Leflore Chamber of Commerce Leadership Greenwood program. Mr. Windfield is also a graduate of the Higher Education Leadership Foundation’s Leadership Institute (HELF).

Mr. Windfield is active in several professional, civic and social organizations. He has received recognition from the Greenwood Commonwealth Daily News (“Top 40, Under 40”), and MVSU Young Alumni (Top 40, Under 40”). His research areas of interest are HBCUs, African American student persistence, and HBCU alumni philanthropy. He was the executive producer for several marketing videos and the A Legacy in Motion documentary.

Kylon is the youngest child of Pastor L.T. Windfield and retired JPS educator Laura Alford-Windfield, and his sister Tewari is a health physicist. He is also the uncle to two nieces, Tanslei Evans and Ava Evans. Mr. Windfield is excited to join the Stillman family!
