Elise Payne is the design and digital art instructor at Wells APAC, and she currently serves as the chair of the Visual Arts department. Born and raised in north Mississippi, Ms. Payne attended Mississippi College where she earned a Bachelors in Art Education, a Master of Education in Art, and a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Art. Before coming to Wells APAC, Ms. Payne taught middle school art and college-level studio and art education courses. 

Although relief printmaking is her medium of choice, Ms. Payne also enjoys working with a variety of drawing, painting, and digital media. Outside of Wells APAC, Ms. Payne is the president of the Mississippi Art Education Association, and she is an adjunct instructor at Mississippi College where she teaches the undergrad and graduate level printmaking courses. In 2019, Ms. Payne received the Mississippi Art Education Association's Bill Poirier Outstanding Art Educator of the Year award and in 2020, she received the NAEA Outstanding Mississippi Art Educator Award.
