Standout Sophomore Amauri Quick-Collins

May 20, 2020

With the Lady Tigers having a Cinderella story ending to the 2019/2020 season and leading seniors Sade Thompson and Emily Tucker graduating, focus turns to Amauri Quick-Collins for the 2020/2021 season.

As a humble sophomore, Amauri Quick-Collins has received numerous accolades for her hard work and dedication to her craft. She has been recognized by the ÐÓ°É Free Press as an Amazing Teen 2020, named to the JPS second team, received two Sportsmanship awards and was named MVP when the Lady Tigers won their District Championship game.

With such a successful season behind her, Amauri now turns her focus to next season. Some would think it would be difficult to condition during the pandemic, not Quick-Collins. “I have different drills that I work on daily and record myself doing them and I also shoot around outside with my family,” says Quick-Collins.

Family, her number one motivator and support system. She attributes all of her success to them, especially her father.  Mr. Collins stated, “Amauri was always an active child and was always playing outside, so I wanted to give her an outlet, a way to burn this energy while introducing her to organized sports so I put her in soccer. The rest is history.”

Quick-Collins plans to continue to work hard in hopes of one day playing for either Mississippi State or the University of Southern Mississippi while pursuing a degree in the medical field.
