• About Provine

Provine High School Provine High School is one of seven high schools in the ÐÓ°É Public School District. The school serves students in grades 9-12. Since its inception in September of 1956, Provine High School has been instrumental in producing its share of doctors, lawyers, educators, political leaders, engineers, and a myriad of other professionals.

Provine High School has a rich tradition of scholar success that is attributable to our outstanding staff, dedicated and caring parents, the ongoing support of our community, and the high quality and commitment of our student body. As a traditional high school, we offer courses in the core academics, fine arts, and the vocational sciences so that all students will find classes that interest them and prepare them for life in the future.

Here at Provine, we have a Freshman Academy. The purpose of the Freshman Academy is to ease the transition of our incoming freshmen from middle school while also instructing them on the essential behaviors needed to be successful in high school and beyond. For our upper-level classes, we offer Career Academies in the areas of Business and Finances, Health Services, Scientific Innovations, and the esteemed Academy of Colleges and Advance Placement.

Provine High School strives to foster a sense of community in which every individual is respected and encouraged to realize their full potential in the following areas:

    1. Character – People of high character are honest, accept responsibility for their own actions, and choose to do the right thing with moral strength in the face of negative pressures.

    2. Work Ethic – One of the most important values any parent or educator can teach is that effort leads to growth and reward. A person who works hard and does things the right way will always achieve more in life than a person who takes shortcuts and chooses the lazy path of least resistance. Every day will be a workday.

    3. Citizenship – Our community and quality of life are strengthened when we all treat one another with respect and take care of the places where we live and work. Service to others and exhibiting a positive attitude make everyone’s lives richer.

    4. Scholarship – Students need to understand that they are building their own futures now. If they truly apply themselves to learning and achieving they will succeed and doors to opportunity will open for them. It is easy to coast and do just enough to get by, but it will catch up to a person in the form of barriers and dead-ends. Good school performance prepares you and sets you up for professional success if you take advantage of it.

The keys to developing all of these traits are to specifically discuss each one at every opportunity, to model them at all times, and to recognize students as they demonstrate that they have internalized them. By fostering these core traits and values in our young people we are preparing them for full, productive and successful lives.
