About Me:  Mrs. Murphy-Johnson, affectionally known as Mrs. MJ, is a distinguished Master Teacher with a passion for education that spans 14 years. With a wealth of experience in the field of teaching, she has become a cornerstone of our school district’s educational community. 

Teaching Philosophy:  Mrs. MJ’s teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that every student has the potential to succeed. She is dedicated to creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where students feel empowered to explore, learn, and grow. She places a strong emphasis on fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning. 

Professional Accomplishments:  Throughout her illustrious career, Mrs. MJ has consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching and educational leadership. She has been recognized for her contributions in various ways, including: 

- 2023 Educators Impact Award 
- 2022 Rock Star Teacher Award 
- 2022-2023 JPS Teacher Advisory Board 
- 2021 JPS-Tougaloo Early College High School Teacher of the Year 

Educational Background:  Mrs. Murphy-Johnson holds a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Arkansas and a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Reading/English.   She is a National Board Certified Candidate, where she honed her expertise in young adult literature. Throughout her career, she has served as a classroom Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Educational Specialist. She is currently sharing her love and expertise in the field of education as the Educator Preparation Teacher at ÐÓ°É Middle College. She continues to pursue professional development opportunities to stay at the forefront of educational trends and pedagogical innovations. 

Commitment to Student Success & Community Engagement:  As a Master Teacher, she is deeply committed to ensuring the success of every student. She goes above and beyond to provide individualized support, mentorship, and guidance to help students achieve their full potential. Her classroom is a dynamic and engaging space where students are inspired to excel academically and personally. She is an active and engaged member of our school community. She collaborates with colleagues, parents, and students to create a positive and inclusive educational environment. Her involvement extends beyond the classroom, as she participates in Advisory Boards and volunteers her time and energy in Bible educational work.  

Personal Interests:  When Mrs. MJ is not in the classroom, she enjoys playing the piano, writing poetry, winning in Bid Whist tournaments, visiting historical sites, and crafting, which further enriches her life and perspective, contributing to her effectiveness as a teacher. She has been married to her best friend, Mr. Johnson, for five years.
