Mrs. Tanyatemeika Mason

Biography

Mrs. Mason is a highly-motivated educational professional with diverse experience as a leader, educator, coordinator, and educational director. She previously served as an assistant principal at Provine High School in JPS and has spent the last 13 years of her career as a school administrator. Her areas of responsibility included managing the development of instructional and co-curricular programs, developing effective discipline procedures, establishing relationships with educational leaders, engaging parents and the community to support school improvement efforts and recruiting, hiring and developing high-quality personnel. Mrs. Mason started her career in Canton Public Schools as a Biology teacher.

Mrs. Mason holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Mississippi University for Women. She obtained a Master of Education in Biology degree at Mississippi College and a Master of Science in Education Administration and Supervision degree at ÐÓ°É State University. Mrs. Mason completed her most recent degree, a Master of Business Administration–Leadership Concentration, at Belhaven University.

Mr. Dwayne Harris

Biography

My name is Dwayne Harris and I serve as the assistant principal of Capital City Alternative School. I am a proud gradaute of ÐÓ°É State University where I received both my bachelor's and master's degrees. I have always had a passion for learning and educating students. 

As the assistant prinicpal my goal is to ensure that every student is provided a high level of instruction and social skills daily.  

I am committed and dedicated to the students and staff of Capital City Alternative School. Together we provide a safe, orderly, clean, and tailored learning environment for all our students.

Biography

I am elated to serve as one of the Assistant Principals for Capital City Alternative School. Here at CCAS we strive to offer a high level of education supports to all students. I am firm believer that given the correct learning environment, any student can succeed. Therefore, one of my personal goals at CCAS is to ensure all students are provided with an equitable education as well as equipping them with social emotional learning skills that will empower them to be better students while at CCAS and when they transition to his/her homeschool.

I earned my Bachelor's degree from ÐÓ°É State University in Elementary Education and a minor in Mathematics.  I also received by Masters degree in School Counseling and Specailist degree in Educational Leadsership from Mississippi College. Lastly, I earned my Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College. Therefore, I am an advocate for pursing education and I aim to instill that in each of the students at CCAS. 

As a former teacher and counselor at CCAS, I have a heart for our students. I am dedicated to extend all support available to ensure their success!

Mr. Shelby Rutland

Greetings I am Mr. Shelby Rutland. As a native of ÐÓ°É, MS and a graduate of Forest Hill High School I am dedicated to improving the education of all ÐÓ°É Public School students. Education has always been my career choice and goals in my life. I graduated from Mississippi State with a degree in History and began my career as a high school History teacher. I also was the head baseball coach for Murrah High School and a defensive football coordinator for over 10 years. Therefore, I understand the importance of discipline, hard work and sacrifice to achieve all goals. I have previous been an assistant principal at both Forest Hill High School and Whitten Middle School.

I am excited to be apart of the amazing Capital City Alternative School team.  Focusing on improving the academic and behavior needs of our students is one of my top priorities at CCAS as one of the assistant principals. My motto is, "Toady we follow, tomorrow we lead."
