Exceptional Education Overview

  • The Office of Exceptional Education Services provides a variety of support services to students with disabilities. Eligible students may receive services between 3 and 21 years of age. Schools offer programs that provide academic, behavioral and related service supports in a specialized learning environment. Support services are provided in all district schools. Student identification procedures, achievement testing, programming, and flexible scheduling require the participation of all school partners. ÐÓ°É Public Schools District strives to identify and provide an educational benefit to all students with disabilities. Services offered through the Department of Exceptional Education include:

    • Assistive Technology Evaluation and Services 
    • Behavioral Intervention Services 
    • Educational Services
    • Homebound Services 
    • Language/Speech Services 
    • Occupational Therapy 
    • Physical Therapy 
    • Psychological Services, including pre-school and school-age assessments 
    • Specialized Medical Care

    The Office of Exceptional Education Services is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act — 1997 Reauthorization (IDEA 2004) in the identification, evaluation, eligibility, and individualized educational programming for children with disabilities. ÐÓ°É Public School District Office of Exceptional Education governed by State Board Policy 7419.
